What classes and grade level(s) do you teach?

5th Grade

What do you love most about HCS?

What I love most about HCS is how this school feels like a second family to me. The community at HCS is unlike any other school. The staff that I work with and the parents and students on campus are supportive, loving and make the time to be intentional and to pour into my life.

Why do you like teaching at HCS?

I like teaching at HCS because I feel supported and encouraged by not only my department, but also by adminstration. Also, I like teaching at HCS because the parents are generous with their time and support the teachers in any way they can.

What is one word that best describes the school? Tell us why you chose that word.

Safe. I chose the word “safe” to describe HCS because I believe that the teachers at the school create a safe learning environment for the students, where students
are not afraid to try in fear of failing. The teachers at this school go the extra mile to help support and encourage their students to insure that the students are successful not only in academics and also in their personal lives.

How do you integrate faith and learning at HCS?

I integrate faith and learning in my classroom by not just teaching Bible as a regular subject, but by finding ways to integrate my faith into every subject area. I find myself throughout the day relating history, science, language arts to our Bible lessons. I also integrate faith into my classroom by sharing my testimony and what God is teaching me in hopes to encourage my students in their walk with Jesus. My prayer is that the students see the love of Christ through my actions and through my teaching.

What is a unique experience, talent or interest that you bring to your classroom to help shape the learning experience of your students?

I believe that my love for school and learning help shape me into the teacher that I am. My constant strive to want to learn drives me to want to be the best teacher that I can be. I hope that desire to never stop learning is contagious for my students.

What sets HCS students apart from other students?

Students here at HCS are set apart than any other students in the way that want to build close relationships with those on campus with their fellow students but also the staff on campus. It is what helps create such a close community at HCS.
