Academics That Build Year After Year
From Kindergarten through middle school, HCS gives students a strong academic foundation in a learning environment where they are known, challenged, and encouraged to grow.
A Strong Education Starts With Knowing the Child
At HCS, academics aren’t separate from the student. Children learn best when they’re supported, challenged, and taught in an environment where faith and learning work together.
Small class sizes, strong instruction, and a clear curriculum help prepare students for high school and for a lifetime of learning.
One School. Four Stages of Growth.

Kindergarten
A year of major academic and personal growth. Students begin phonics-based reading, mathematics, Bible, and enrichment classes in a classroom designed to build both confidence and readiness.

Lower Elementary (Grades 1–2)
Foundations become fluency as students strengthen reading, writing, and math while growing in curiosity, independence, and confidence as learners.

Upper Elementary (Grades 3–5)
Students begin thinking more deeply, taking greater ownership of their learning, and engaging more fully in science, writing, problem-solving, and collaborative work.

Middle School
Designed to help students grow academically and personally, middle school at HCS builds responsibility, deepens learning, and prepares students well for the transition to high school.
What Parents Want to Know About Academics
Parents usually want to know more than whether a school has good teachers. They want to know whether their child will be appropriately challenged, whether support is available if needed, and whether the school will prepare them well for the future.
Will my child be challenged?
Yes. HCS uses a comprehensive curriculum and a learning environment that consistently pushes students forward, with academic expectations that help prepare them for what comes next.
Will my child get enough attention?
With a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio in most classes, students receive meaningful teacher attention and are less likely to get lost in the crowd.
Will my child be ready for high school?
Yes. Most HCS graduates move confidently into Honors and AP tracks in the high school of their choice, public or private.
What if my child is transferring from public school?
Some transfer students may need a bit of adjustment, especially if they are coming from a program that moves at a different pace. HCS uses an enrollment assessment to help families understand readiness, and in some cases recommends summer reading or skill-building workshops to help students begin the school year with confidence.

Strong Core Subjects. Meaningful Enrichment.
HCS students are taught through a comprehensive academic program that includes phonics-based reading, Bible, mathematics, science, history, grammar, and writing, along with enrichment opportunities in areas like music, art, STEM, and physical education.
This matters because preparation is not just about knowing facts. It is about learning how to read well, think clearly, write confidently, solve problems, work collaboratively and, grow in responsibility over time.

Every Year Builds on the Last
The strength of a K-8 school is that learning is not fragmented. Students do not have to start over every few years in a completely new environment. At HCS, each stage builds on the one before it, academically, socially, and spiritually.
That continuity helps students grow with confidence and gives families the stability of one school community and one educational philosophy from Kindergarten through Grade 8.
