A Kindergarten Year That Builds a Strong Beginning
At HCS, Kindergarten is where children begin building confidence, friendships, faith, and a foundation for learning that lasts for years to come.
A Year That Shapes So Much
Kindergarten is often a child’s first experience of school, and a year parents remember long after it ends.
At HCS, Kindergarten is designed to help children feel known, grow in confidence, and develop a strong foundation academically, socially, and spiritually.
What Students Begin Learning in Kindergarten
Early Reading Foundations
Through a phonics-based reading approach, many students begin reading independently by Christmas.
Strong Academic Foundations
Students begin building strong academic foundations in mathematics, writing, Bible, and early science and social studies through engaging classroom instruction.
Confidence and Independence
Kindergarten helps students learn classroom routines, develop responsibility, and grow comfortable as learners.
Character and Faith
Students begin learning habits of kindness, responsibility, and faith as part of everyday school life.

A Strong Start in Learning
At HCS, kindergarten combines joyful learning with real academic substance.
Students engage in:
Phonics-based reading
Early writing development
Mathematics foundations
Bible learning
Music, art, STEM, and physical education
Many parents are surprised by how much growth happens in a single year.
Small Classes Make a Big Difference
With small class sizes and attentive teachers, kindergarten students are known personally and encouraged daily.
That matters at this age.
Children often learn best when they feel safe, comfortable, and excited to come to school.
Questions Parents Often Have
Is my child ready for kindergarten?
We know children enter kindergarten at different ages. HCS works with families to understand developmental readiness using a kindergarten readiness assessment. This helps students get off to a successful start.
Will my child learn to read?
Yes. HCS uses a phonics-based reading approach that gives students a strong early literacy foundation.
Will my child be cared for personally?
With small classes and experienced teachers, students receive meaningful attention and encouragement.
What if my child is shy or nervous about starting school?
That is common. HCS teachers work thoughtfully to help children feel secure and comfortable in the classroom.

Why Families Begin Here
Families often choose HCS for kindergarten because they are looking for more than a basic classroom environment.
They are looking for:
- A strong start academically
- A caring Christian environment
- Teachers who know their child
- A school community they can grow with through Grade 8
Many families begin in kindergarten and stay for the journey.
