A Note from Maribel:

"Teaching is about helping students believe in themselves. When teaching math and a student says "I don't understand," I tell them "You don't understand, yet." I love it when a smile breaks out on their face. Teaching is not just about grades or worksheets. It is about encouraging students when they feel unsure. It is about cheering for them when they finally understand something difficult. Students may not remember every lesson we teach, but they do remember how we made them feel. I also love being part of HCS because it feels like a family. People help each other, and we pray for students. When someone is having a hard day, there is usually another person ready to encourage them. That kind of kindness matters. I think even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. All of this reminds me why teaching is meaningful to me. Every day is a chance to help students learn, grow, and remember that Jesus loves them, and they are valued."
